The seismic isolation bearing is used between the building foundation, the bottom or the substructure and the superstructure, which can prolong the natural vibration period of the whole structure system and reduce the horizontal seismic action of the input superstructure. However, after the earthquake, it is impossible to judge whether the exterior of the seismic isolation bearing of the building is intact, whether the interior is damaged, and whether the bearing can continue to be used.
In Japan, a scribing method is often used to install a scribing pin next to the bearing. In the event of an earthquake, the scribing pin will leave a moving track during the earthquake. According to the displacement in the track and the number of times the out of limit displacement is realized, it is determined whether the internal structure of the bearing is damaged and whether it can continue to be used. However, the trajectory of the needle needs to be observed and judged by the personnel who go down to the bottom of the building and the superstructure, and the number of times the needle is crossed cannot be judged on the same trajectory.
The seismic displacement monitoring device (see the above figure) can solve the problems of the scribing method.
Its principle is to establish a coordinate system artificially between the upper and lower parts of the building, select one of the points as the monitoring point, install sensors, and use the sensors to directly or indirectly obtain the coordinates of the monitoring point in the earthquake process.
